
The Joyce Theater in Chelsea is considered one of the premier
performance venues for dance. Converted in 1982 from a 1941
movie house, this state-of-the-art, 472-seat theater brings an
intimate experience to every
performance—no matter where you're sitting.

Joyce SoHo offers three beautifully
equipped dance studios to independent choreographers and
non-profit dance companies at highly subsidized rates for
rehearsals and performances. It
is also home to educational programs including free
Dance Talks.

The newly-opened DANY (Dance Art New York) Studios serves the needs of independent choreographers, not-for-profit dance companies and the dance/theater communities by providing eleven affordable studios appropriate for rehearsals, auditions, classes and workshops. Each studio is equipped with mirrors and audio/video (including iPod/mini plug connection) systems for rehearsal use.
How to get there
The Joyce is currently planning an exceptional new venue at the site of the former World Trade Center. This theater will be designed by architect Frank Gehry and seat 1,000 people for a wide range of diverse and compelling dance experiences.
