Digital Curtain Chat
Limón Dance Company
In our latest Digital Curtain Chat, Limón Dance Company Artistic Director Dante Puleio and choreographer Raúl Tamez join us for a discussion with interdisciplinary scholar, artist, and educator Kiri Avelar.
The company celebrates its 75th anniversary by sharing José Limón's inspiring life story. Puleio speaks to the curation of this program as a continuation of Limón's historical legacy for today's audiences, offering a reconstruction of his first major solo "Danzas Mexicanas" and bringing his final work "Waldstein Sonata" to be performed by the company for the first time. Raúl Taméz, the first Mexican choreographer to set a work on the company since Limón himself, discusses his sociological and choreographic investigations that shaped his piece, "Migrant Mother."
