Service Animals

The Joyce Theater accommodates service animals needed to assist patrons with disabilities. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (the “ADA”), service animals are defined as “dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities,” which work or tasks “must be directly related to the individual’s disability.” Dogs that solely function to provide comfort or emotional support to their handler are not considered service animals under the ADA.

Service animals that enter the theater must be supervised by and remain under the control of their handler at all times. Service animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless the use of these items would impede the service animal’s ability to attend to their handler’s disability, or if the handler’s disability prevents the use of these items. The theater shall not be responsible for the care or supervision of a service animal.

Public Transportation: The 14th Street A train station is ADA compliant and within four blocks of the theater.
